Figures on a road with a lake and mountains beyond (probably Snowdon from Llyn Padarn)

£525

The present work is signed "D.COX" and inscribed verso, "Collingwood Smith and D...d …" This particular style and subject in Collingwood Smith's work, typically with figures on a mountain track, surrounded by strongly delineated rocks and in bright sun, certainly forms a distinctive group which echoes comparable work by Cox.   One might even speculate whether he and Cox collaborated on any of these works, for example, when they were at Capel Curig together in 1856.
