Forest Scene with Figures Digging Gravel

Forest Scene with Figures Digging Gravel

£280

Another view by Witherigton of the same scene is in Tate, acquired with the Paul Oppé Collection. The two works, on similalry sized sheets of grey paper, likely come from a sketchbook, used on the spot as Witherington observed this scene of gravel working. Unlike some of his rural scenes, this drawing shows a very real scene of people at work.
