This drawing has all the immediacy of a work made on the spot on Barmouth's terraces overlooking the Irish Sea. Two children are caught, edged in sunlight in front of a shaded wall. Cristall went on to exhibit several watercolours of scenes at Barmouth in the 1833 and 1834 exhibitions of the Society of Painters in Water-Colours.
