Cliffs, Étretat

Cliffs, Étretat

£475

The present work is a classic example of Sheppard's exhibition watercolours of the 1970s, with characteristic attention to detail and a sense that we can read each blade of grass, described by the raking light on the clifftop path. The cliffs at Étretat, with their striking chalk formations, were a very popular subject for French artists, most notably Claude Monet.
