Blythburgh Church
Blythburgh Church
Squirrell’s preparatory pencil sketches for etchings and watercolours, made on the spot in front of his subjects, often with colour notes, are some of his freshest, most direct works. He made several watercolours and at least one drypoint of the fine church at the village of Blythburgh. This finished drawing shows the church over fields and houses, from a lane to the south of the village.
There is a certificate of authenticity from Squirrell's daughter on the backboard of the present work.
