Beaulieu River, Hamts
Beaulieu River, Hamts
1152
An intense focus on natural detail and its painstaking depiction characterise some of his best work. In this fine drawing of the Beaulieu River in the New Forest, Hampshire, the eye is drawn into the landscape along the shoreline from the right, moving from the generalised drawing of the foreground trees to the very precise detail and white heightening of the Beaulieu village buildings in the distant left of the drawing.
