In the 1820s and 1830s, Hunt painted a series of watercolours of gardeners and other rural workers, and their workshops and sheds, some of which were the subject of an exhibition at the Courtauld Gallery, entitled William Henry Hunt: Country People, 24th June to 17th September 2017. This large, beautiful watercolour can be added to this group of works.
