A Gardener's Workshop

A Gardener's Workshop

£750

In the 1820s and 1830s, Hunt painted a series of watercolours of gardeners and other rural workers, and their workshops and sheds, some of which were the subject of an exhibition at the Courtauld Gallery, entitled William Henry Hunt: Country People, 24th June to 17th September 2017.

This large and beautifully composed and painted watercolour can be added to this group of works. It could well be identified with the work Hunt exhibited as 'A Gardener's Store Room', number 112 in the 1830 exhibition of the Society of Painters in Water-Colours.
