Rachel on the Beach at Vaucottes
Rachel on the Beach at Vaucottes
1131
By family tradition, this is a portrait of Rutherston’s niece, William’s daughter Rachel, on the beach at Vaucottes, in Normandy. Painted around 1910, this brightly coloured and freely painted watercolour shows the strong influence Roger Fry's Post-Impressionism exhibition had on British painters, particularly in the Bloomsbury set and Camden Town Group.
