Loch-an-Dorb

Loch-an-Dorb

£150

This drypoint is a view of Lochindorb, as it is now generally spelt, a freshwater loch, north of Grantown on Spey, in the Highlands. In the middle of the loch is an artificial island, made to build Lochindorb Castle, a former stronghold of the Clan Comyn. The ruins of the 13th-century castle can be seen in Cameron's drypoint.

The drypoint is listed in Frank Rinder's illustrated catalogue of his etchings and drypoints, 1887-1932. This is a well-inked impression, with good margins and some cockling, a slight vertical crease to the left and an old mark in the paper at the centre.
