Adrien Lucy
1794 - 1875
Adrien, or A. J. Lucy is one of our few artists on this website from Continental Europe. He was a French watercolour painter known for his depictions of military subjects, such as the Duc de Montpensier reviewing his troops in 1842. He was still covering military activities in the Franco-Prussian War when in his 70s. Lucy's scenes in Algeria perhaps catch the most attention, but some of his most pleasing works are landscapes, heightened with vigorous pen-work.
