A Woman asleep in a Chair
A Woman asleep in a Chair
1074
Hunt's sketchbooks contained some of the most sensitive and intimate recordings of English family life in the early 19th century. The family was clearly close, and the artist regularly used relatives as models. The sitter for this fine drawing may be his sister-in-law Maria, who was married to his elder brother, Thomas James Hunt. It is recorded on the backboard that the drawing was admired by Sir Hugh Casson PRA.
