Mixing it up

It's often good to mix small pictures with 3-D objects, where they are not lost as they can be on a large wall. By juxtaposing artwork from different as well as related, cultures and eras, we like to create a sort of cabinet of curiosities. Here, tiles by A.W.N. Pugin and Carter & Co of Poole, a Doulton candlestick and a Tudric one by Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co., mix it with George Adolphus Storey's "Kilburn", Gwen Raverat's "June", William Mulready's "The Forgotten Word" and the unattributed "Woman in Profile" oval. They are all set against Little Greene's lovely "Citrine" emulsion.
