Clarence Blackburn

1914 - 1984

Clarence Blackburn was a painter, printmaker, mural painter, commercial artist and potter who studied at Stoke-on-Trent School of Art and Burslem College of Art. From 1944-59, Blackburn ran a small pottery in Stoke. He then moved to Hampton Wick in Surrey, and showed at the exhibitions of the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers. Blackburn is particularly known for a series of paintings and etchings featuring subjects from the life of the circus, including travelling families' caravans
